FAQ's
Hypnotherapy is a highly collaborative process, and you remain completely in control throughout.
It feels very similar to daydreaming, much like being absorbed in a good book or the drifting feeling you experience just before falling asleep. You cannot be forced to do or say anything against your will, and you can open your eyes or speak at any point if you wish to.
It cannot happen without your cooperation, I help you to enter into “your hypnosis”.
Anxiety and overwhelm are often driven by subconscious patterns—automatic “fight or flight” responses, negative self-talk, or deeply ingrained habits of overthinking fuelled by negative beliefs you hold about yourself such as “I am not good enough” or “I can’t cope!” While your conscious mind knows you want to calm down, your subconscious is still running the old stress loop.
Hypnotherapy allows us to bypass the analytical, racing thoughts of the conscious mind and work directly with the subconscious. By accessing this state, we can identify the root causes of your stress, reframe negative thought patterns, and build logical, practical frameworks to restore a sense of balance and calm.
This is one of the most common concerns for people experiencing anxiety, but it is actually a myth that you need a “blank mind” for hypnotherapy to work. In fact, analytical minds and active imaginations often respond incredibly well to hypnosis. We use your natural mental focus and direct it away from racing thoughts toward structured, calming, and constructive internal processes. You don’t need to stop your thoughts; you just need to follow my voice.
Because everyone experiences anxiety or fears differently, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. However, hypnotherapy is a brief, solution-focused therapy, meaning it does not require years of open-ended commitment. Many clients begin to notice a shift in their baseline stress levels and a greater sense of clarity within the first couple of sessions. During our initial consultation, we will discuss a clear, structured plan tailored to your specific goals.
Every session is divided into two main parts. First, we spend time talking to review your progress, look at your current challenges through a structured, analytical lens, and clarify what you want to achieve. The second part is the practical hypnosis itself, where you will be guided into a comfortable, relaxed state to absorb positive suggestions, mental strategies, and reframing techniques designed to calm your nervous system.
Yes. Hypnotherapy is a safe, non-invasive complementary therapy that works exceptionally well alongside other practices, such as mindfulness, cognitive exercises, or conventional medical treatments managed by your GP. It provides a structured, logical way to track and measure your own emotional progress, serving as an excellent tool for overall mental well-being.
Yes, hypnotherapy is completely safe when practiced by a qualified, experienced professional. Regarding permanence: the goal of our sessions is not just a temporary quick-fix, but to help you rewire how your brain automatically responds to stress triggers. By breaking the old automatic anxiety loops and replacing them with healthier, more logical coping strategies, you build sustainable mental habits that last long after our sessions finish and usually for life!
No, you cannot get stuck in hypnosis. In the rare situation where you might be working online and the connection fails you will not remain in hypnosis for ever more! It is a natural state that we all enter into and you will eventually come round after a few minutes and be perfectly well!
